PYRO-TECTION started out as a fire protection company that supplied some rescue equipment in 1993. Over the years, our focus has been refined to specific areas such as height safety and rope rescue, motorsport fire suppression equipment, and rescue tools. More recently, we have expanded to include areas such as Military, Arbor, and the outdoor industry. This move was more of a refinement of showcasing our current product range in specific areas and allowing on-line shopping, rather than a new direction.

We are a "can do" business - small enough to react to our customer’s special needs, but large enough to ensure quality products at realistic prices.

One of the many major projects Pyro-tection has been involved with includes the supply of the Victorian State Emergency Service’s roof top safety kits - tailor made equipment to suit this major provider of emergency services in Australia as well as replacing all of both the Tasmanian Fire Service’s and Victorian State Emergency Service’s kernmantle rescue rope. We are also proud to be a supplier of onboard fire protection systems and safety equipment to most V8 Supercar teams. We have built riot control trailers and supply specialist footwear to the Australian Army. Pyro-tection have advised agencies on rope rescue equipment, and rappelling from helicopters as well as meeting the supply needs of one of Australia’s largest outdoor education providers.

A family business and proud of it, Pyro-tection is owned and operated by Trevor and Carolyn Lansdown (with some help from their two young children). Both Trevor and Carolyn have extensive emergency service backgrounds, with Trevor previously working for a short time as a full time firefighter and Carolyn working as a full time officer with the Victorian State Emergency Service. Both have volunteer fire service experience in areas such as rope rescue, road crash rescue and extensive urban and wildfire firefighting experience. Carolyn holds a BA in Outdoor Education and still works full time in this industry at one of Australia’s leading private schools.

Trevor has had a long term love of motor sport, working in his spare time with drivers such as Cody Crocker, Spencer Lowndes (both top drivers in the Australian Rally Championship) and with various teams in the Australian Touring Car Championship. While backpacking in Europe, Trevor has also worked with the UK based team Prodrive in the World Rally Championship.
